Maintenance technician
Gauteng JHB – Central
My client, a successful SA wholesale company, is looking to hire an experienced maintenance technician to join their offices in Johannesburg. It will maintain customer production and quality by ensuring that machines supplied to customers are properly prepared, delivered and installed on time as per customer requirements.
Introduce new and existing customers to the company’s range of equipment and machinery.
Responsibilities:
Ensure in-depth and practical knowledge of all machines, applications and parts.
Stay up-to-date on the latest industry related machine design, application and technology research.
Keep an up-to-date machine maintenance log and schedule.
Serve as liaison and coordinate with clients regarding the commissioning and maintenance of machinery.
Ensure that extensive team training is provided with the sales team and at the customer site at the time of commissioning.
Actively track and manage calls and breakdowns that have been logged.
Ensure administrative requirements are met and systems are followed at all times (i.e. job cards are processed and invoiced to customer after work performed is completed and quotes are submitted first for machines out of warranty)
Advise and act on market opportunities where sales can be made.
Take full responsibility for the maintenance of stock of spare parts and machines, including ordering, levels and the inventory function.
Continuous commitment with all suppliers to ensure supply, technology and design.
Liaise with suppliers on possible design changes or improvements.
Address emergency breakdowns before or after business hours when necessary.
Troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of machinery and equipment.
Liaise with representatives, branches, and agents regarding machinery breakdowns, spare parts, customer problems, and new machines.
Provide technical advice to customer branches and technicians when necessary.
Serve as liaison with superiors, branches and relevant clients regarding shipments of machinery and spare parts.
Test and be able to demonstrate the applications of new machinery and equipment to the relevant parties.
Address general maintenance issues that stand out in and around the branch facilities.
Make sure all other peripheral functions in the department are completed and reported when necessary.
Supervision of subordinates.
Make sure that all the assets of the company are always accounted for.
Make sure the shop and storage area are kept clean, orderly, and presentable at all times.
Ensure availability for international and local travel as needed.
Ensure food safety compliance at all times and report any food safety issues to your supervisor.
You may need to perform other tasks when operationally necessary.
Requirements:
Matric Certificate or NTC 3 in Electronics.
Electrical rating.
You must have a valid driver’s license.
Field support with a minimum of 2 years of work experience.
Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience in electronics and / or mechanics.
Electronic component test.
Ability to work weekends, on hold, and overtime.
Written English and verbally competent.
Excellent clear and understandable communication skills.
Previous experience in training clients on new products.
Experience and / or ability to quickly learn new machinery.
Able to work extended hours and perform weekend duties when required.
Regional support: ability to work and stay in remote areas.
