The South African Nursing Council (SANC) is the body charged with establishing and maintaining standards for nursing education and practice in the Republic of South Africa. It is an autonomous, financially independent statutory body, initially established by the Nursing Law of 1944 (Law No. 45 of 1944), and currently operates under the Nursing Law of 2005 (Law No. 33 of 2005). The SANC currently has the following vacancies, candidates who meet the specified requirements are invited to apply.

3 years of applicable experience in the ICT service desk and user assistance
Valid driver’s license

COMPETENCES / SKILLS REQUIRED
Excellent technical knowledge of end-user hardware (laptops, desktops, IP phones, printers, projects, etc.)
Good work experience of Virtual Private Network (VPN)
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Good working knowledge of Windows 10
Good working knowledge of 802.1x authentication
Good working knowledge of Windows client / server infrastructure
Good working knowledge of data center environmental controls.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Ensure and maintain compliance (security, legislation and departmental policies) on the use of all client devices on the network.
Guarantee the protection of end user data (confidentially, integrity and availability).
Identify the risks and report them to the competent authority.
Ensure that the implementation of ICT client teams complies with health and safety standards.
Ensure infrastructure changes are documented and reported to the CAB (Change Advisory Board)
Maintains advanced knowledge of the operating systems and applications used to provide a high level of support.
Achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.
Ensure incidents are escalated in a timely manner to superior support teams
Supporting Service Desk staff and ensuring that end users receive appropriate assistance.
Establish and enforce help desk and support desk service level agreements in consultation with end users to establish problem resolution expectations and timelines.
Participate in awareness and basic training on end-user safety.
Participate in research and development to keep up with new technology initiatives.
Build a knowledge base, participate in the training and updating of front-line support staff.
Oversee the implementation and administration of training policies and procedures for technical support and service desk personnel.
Monitor and test fixes to ensure issues are properly resolved
Track and analyze trends in help desk requests and generate statistical reports.
Identify, recommend, develop and implement training programs for end users to increase proficiency and self-sufficiency in computing.
Assist third-line ICT support according to the need identified by ICT management
Troubleshooting and installing the Microsoft System Center package on client computers (SCCM and SCSM)
Configure and install new application software
Assist with any other ICT support requirement as determined by the ICT Directorate
Diagnose and resolve escalated hardware problems from first-level support.
Troubleshooting and testing of telephony equipment.
Participate in the tests of the power generator and UPS and keep records of them.
Make sure the SANC data center is clean and operating within acceptable standards
Make sure network cabinets are tidy and meet standards
Secure network cabling in accordance with SANC standards
Troubleshoot connectivity issues for biometric devices
Configure network printers on the print server
Troubleshoot network connectivity problems in a LAN environment
Contribute (develop, review and contribute) to the development of policies and standard operating procedures within the area of ​​responsibility.
Provide support to third-line support in the commissioning and dismantling of ICT-backed infrastructure.
Ensure good Active Directory management by adhering to the SANC approved naming convention
Make sure to clean and troubleshoot virus-infected computers.
Support third line media to ensure backup tapes are rotated in a timely manner and delivered to external storage on schedule.
Perform ad hoc tasks delegated by the line manager / supervisor.

The SANC will conduct background checks (for example, employment verification and reference checks as outlined in the CV, as well as with respect to criminal history, citizenship, financial records, qualifications, driver’s license, and active professional membership, where applicable) . South African citizens will be given preference. The successful candidate will be appointed on a 12-month probationary period and will be permanently employed if all performance requirements are met during the probationary period. Candidates can be subjected to practical tests and a competency-based assessment, determined by the SANC.
