Qualifications and Experience (LDC)
- Grade 12 / N3 is advantageous
- Minimum of at least 3-5 years of relevant work experience
- Welding application competence
- GMAW (CO2) welding competence
- Knowledge of OSHACT
- Prepared to work extended hours and shifts
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Able to read and identify welding symbols in drawings
- Able to butt weld, fillet weld in different positions
Duties and responsibilities
- Welding locomotive components according to welding procedure
- Operating hand and power tools
- Installing and operating welding machines
- Identifying welding defects and repairing
- Grooving
- Reading and interpreting technical specifications and blueprint designs
- Inspecting welding preparations prior to welding procedure welding
- Cleaning tasks
- Ensure and comply with the guidelines of the safety regulations ad, policies and procedures
